About Ozark Mountain Leather

Ozark Mountain Leather is a small, family-run leather shop in Northwest Arkansas. We specialize in handcrafted leather rifle and shotgun slings, Bible and book covers, bags, gifts, and other leather goods designed to be used and enjoyed for years.

Our family handles the work here in Arkansas; from cutting and tooling leather to sewing, finishing, customer service, and shipping.

The leather goods we make are handcrafted in our Arkansas shop.

We also sell a limited number of accessories and other products that we do not manufacture ourselves. Those products are identified on their individual product pages.

We use quality full-grain leather sourced primarily from American tanneries.

Our rifle and shotgun slings are made with Hermann Oak vegetable-tanned leather. We also use American bison leather for many of our Bible covers, bags, desk mats, and other leather goods.

Leather type varies by product, so please see the individual product description for specific details.

Real full-grain leather is a natural material, so no two pieces will look exactly alike.

Natural characteristics can include variations in grain, color, wrinkles, scars, stretch marks, insect marks, brands, and other markings from the life of the animal. These are normal characteristics of genuine leather and are not considered defects.

Color can also vary slightly from hide to hide and may appear different depending on lighting and your screen.

Over time, genuine leather will develop additional character and patina.

Ordering & Production

Most of our leather goods are made to order after your purchase. We do not mass-produce our custom products or simply pull them from a warehouse shelf.

Production time varies throughout the year depending on order volume and the type of product ordered.

Our current production time is posted on our website. We also update the banner at the top of our home page each week with the order dates we are currently working on.

Please remember that production time and shipping/transit time are separate. Once your order leaves our shop, carrier transit time begins.

Orders placed through our Custom Listings section may have different production times.

Made to order means we begin making your item after your order is placed.

Depending on the product, this may include selecting and cutting the leather, tooling or engraving, sewing, assembling hardware, finishing, quality inspection, and packaging.

This is different from a ready-to-ship item that has already been completed.

Yes. We occasionally offer Ready-to-Ship products that have already been completed and do not require our normal made-to-order production time.

Please check our Ready-to-Ship section for current availability.

You should receive an order confirmation email shortly after placing your order.

Once your order ships, you will receive another email containing tracking information.

We normally do not send individual production-status emails between those two notifications unless we have a question or need additional information from you.

We also update the banner on our home page each week with the order dates we are currently working on.

If you cannot find your confirmation or tracking email, please check your spam or junk folder and any alternate email address associated with your payment method. Apple Pay, Amazon Pay, PayPal, or other payment services may use the email address connected to that account.

If your order is for a birthday, anniversary, wedding, hunting trip, graduation, Christmas gift, or another special event, please tell us the event and the date when ordering.

We will do our best to accommodate requested dates when they fall within our current production schedule.

We do not move one customer's order ahead of other customers who have been waiting, but knowing your event date helps us plan whenever possible.

Please allow additional time for carrier transit. Expedited shipping only shortens the carrier's delivery time after your order has been completed; it does not automatically shorten our production time.

Please contact us as soon as possible if you need to request a change.

Once leather has been cut, tooling or engraving has begun, or your custom item is in production, some changes may no longer be possible and additional charges may apply.

Please carefully review names, initials, dates, Bible verses, artwork, measurements, leather colors, thread colors, hardware choices, and other personalization before submitting your order.

Please contact us as soon as possible if you need to cancel.

Made-to-order and custom orders generally cannot be canceled once production has begun or materials have been cut or personalized specifically for your order.

If production has not started, contact us and we will review the order.

Shipping

Shipping time begins after your order has been completed.

Production time and carrier transit time are two separate things. The estimated production time tells you approximately how long we need to make your order. Carrier transit time tells you approximately how long the package should take to reach you after it leaves our shop.

You will receive tracking information when your package ships.

Carrier delivery estimates are not guaranteed by Ozark Mountain Leather, and delays caused by the shipping carrier are outside our control.

Shipping insurance provides additional protection if an eligible package is lost or damaged while in the possession of the shipping carrier.

Shipping insurance is offered during checkout on applicable products or orders. The insurance charge helps cover the additional cost of insuring the shipment; it is not an additional product or handling fee charged for making your order.

We especially recommend considering shipping insurance for higher-value or custom orders that would be difficult to replace.

First, check around your delivery location, with household members, neighbors, and anywhere the carrier normally leaves packages.

You should also contact the shipping carrier using your tracking number.

If you still cannot locate the package, contact us with your order number and tracking information so we can help determine the appropriate next step.

Please contact us promptly and keep the packaging, shipping label, damaged item, and any other materials you received.

Photos may be required to document shipping damage and file a carrier or insurance claim.

The resolution will depend on the shipping service, insurance coverage, tracking information, and circumstances of the shipment.

Packages may be returned for several reasons, including an incorrect or incomplete address, an undeliverable address, missing information, or unsuccessful delivery attempts.

Please review your order confirmation carefully to make sure your shipping address is correct.

If a package is returned to us, contact us so we can determine why it was returned and what is required to ship it again.

Yes. We ship to many international destinations.

International shipping rates are calculated based on the destination, package size, and weight. Customers are responsible for any applicable customs charges, import duties, taxes, or other fees imposed by their country.

International delivery and customs-clearance times vary by destination and are outside our control.

If you do not see your country available as a shipping option at checkout, please reach out to us before ordering. Let us know what you would like to purchase and your country, and we will be happy to check availability and provide you with a shipping quote.

Returns, Exchanges & Problems With an Order

Because many of our products are made to order or personalized specifically for the customer, return eligibility depends on the item ordered.

Personalized, engraved, hand-stamped, custom-sized, custom-designed, special-order, and other custom-made items generally cannot be returned or exchanged unless there is an error or craftsmanship issue attributable to Ozark Mountain Leather.

Non-personalized items may be eligible for return according to our current return policy.

Please review our Shipping & Returns Policy for complete information about return eligibility, timeframes, return shipping, and other requirements.

If you are unsure whether your item is eligible for return, please contact us before sending anything back.

Because personalized and custom products are made specifically for you, they generally cannot be returned or exchanged because of a change of mind, incorrect information submitted with the order, or an incorrect customer-provided measurement.

If we made an error or you believe there is a craftsmanship problem, please contact us so we can review it.

Please contact us promptly with your order number, a description of the problem, and photos if applicable.

If we made an error with your order, personalization, measurements, or workmanship, we will review the situation and determine the appropriate repair, replacement, remake, or other resolution.

We stand behind the craftsmanship of the products we make.

If you believe your item has a manufacturing or craftsmanship problem, contact us with your order information and photos so we can review it.

Normal wear, scratches, patina, natural leather markings, improper care or storage, misuse, accidental damage, animal damage, alterations, excessive moisture or heat exposure, and damage caused by improper installation or use are not considered manufacturing defects.

Because leather is a natural material, normal changes in color, softness, grain, and patina over time are also not defects.

Possibly. Contact us with photos of the item and a description of what needs to be repaired.

We will review the item and let you know whether a repair is possible and whether there would be a charge.

Rifle & Shotgun Slings

Our rifle and shotgun slings are made with full-grain Hermann Oak vegetable-tanned leather.

We have our sling leather prepared to provide a comfortable feel while maintaining the strength and durability expected from quality full-grain leather.

Our slings are backed with another American-made leather from a tannery in Milwaukee, Wisconsin that is prepared specifically for our slings. The backside is heavily sueded, which adds padding and comfort while also providing grip on the shoulder to help minimize slipping.

The two layers are sewn together to create a substantial, durable leather sling that is comfortable to carry and built for years of use.

Our traditional rifle slings are designed primarily as two-point leather slings and are not tactical or quick-adjust tactical slings.

They may work with an AR-style rifle if the firearm has compatible attachment points for a traditional sling.

Always verify your firearm's attachment system and sling-swivel requirements before ordering.

Our standard rifle slings are designed to work with 1-inch sling swivels.

Please verify the attachment points on your firearm before ordering.

No. Sling swivels are sold separately.

Many rifles already have sling swivels installed, and attachment systems can vary from one firearm to another. Including swivels with every sling would mean some customers would be paying for hardware they do not need or cannot use.

For customers who need them, we offer quality 1-inch GrovTec sling swivels separately.

Chicago screws are the hardware used to secure and/or adjust the leather sling.

Our Chicago screws are custom branded for Ozark Mountain Leather, and our slings include the two Chicago screws needed for the sling.

They are different from sling swivels. Chicago screws secure the leather portions of the sling, while sling swivels connect the sling to compatible mounting points on the firearm.

Check your Chicago screws periodically as part of normal sling maintenance and make sure they remain properly secured before use.

No. Our Hermann Oak leather is specially prepared for our slings to give it a softer, more comfortable feel than traditional stiff vegetable-tanned leather.

Combined with the heavily sueded leather backing, our slings have a substantial but comfortable feel right out of the box. The leather will continue to soften, flex, and develop character with use.

Our standard adult rifle slings are approximately 42 inches long overall and have approximately 10 inches of adjustability.

If you need a longer sling, we also offer a sling length extension on applicable styles that can extend the overall length to approximately 52–54 inches.

If you are unsure whether our standard length will work for you, please contact us before ordering.

Our Youth Rifle Slings are designed specifically for very small youth rifles such as the Henry Mini Bolt, Savage Rascal, and Keystone Crickett.

They are intended for rifles approximately 30–33 inches in overall length.

They are generally not recommended for rifles longer than 33 inches, children taller than approximately 5 feet, or older youth who would be better served by an adult-size sling.

Youth slings should always be used under close adult supervision.

Ozark Mountain Leather manufactures leather accessories. We do not sell firearms or ammunition.

We offer a No-Drill Leather Rifle Sling designed for many firearms that do not have traditional sling swivels.

Because firearm configurations vary, please review the product description carefully or contact us before ordering if you are unsure which sling style is appropriate.

Bible & Book Covers

Please measure the actual physical Bible or book you want the cover made for.

With the book closed, measure:

Height × Width × Thickness

Measure in inches to the nearest 1/8 inch using a solid ruler. If the measurement falls between marks, round up to the next 1/8 inch.

Do not use measurements from Amazon, a publisher's website, or another online listing. Published dimensions are often rounded and may not match the physical book in your hands.

We make the necessary fitting adjustments when creating your cover, so please provide the actual measurements of your book rather than adding extra room yourself.

For step-by-step instructions, see our Guide to Measuring Your Bible or Book for a Leather Cover.

Our custom Bible and book covers are made using the measurements you provide.

If the measurements submitted with your order are incorrect, the resulting fit is not considered a manufacturing defect.

If we make an error when creating your cover from the measurements you provided, please contact us. We will make it right.

No.

Please give us the actual measurements of the closed Bible or book. We will make the necessary adjustments when creating the cover.

Adding extra room yourself can result in an improper fit.

Yes. Many of our covers can be made for books, journals, planners, devotionals, and similar items.

The actual dimensions of the item are what matter most.

If you are unsure whether a particular design will work for your book or journal, contact us before ordering.

Personalization & Custom Orders

Yes. Personalization options vary by product and may include hand-stamped names or initials, decorative stamps, laser engraving, custom artwork, leather colors, thread colors, hardware finishes, and other options.

Available choices are shown on each product page.

If you're designing a rifle sling, you can also use our Rifle Sling Visual Customizer to see many of your choices before ordering.

Sometimes.

We accept a limited number of custom projects depending on the type of item, materials required, our current workload, and whether the project fits the type of leatherwork we do.

Contact us with as much information as possible, including dimensions, photos or examples, intended use, personalization, and your needed-by date.

Every custom order starts with a conversation.

Bulk, Corporate & Group Orders

Yes. We work with businesses, churches, hunting camps and lodges, ranches, guide services, organizations, wedding parties, conferences, nonprofits, sportsman's clubs, and other groups.

Depending on the product, customization can include company or church logos, individual names, Bible verses, custom artwork, stamping, laser engraving, leather colors, and hardware choices.

Visit our Bulk & Corporate Orders page to tell us about your project and request additional information.

Yes. Quantity discounts are available on many products.

Discounts and minimum quantities can vary by product and order size. Applicable discounts may be shown directly on the product page or provided as part of a bulk-order quote.

For larger projects, please use our Bulk & Corporate Orders page so we can review your quantity, customization, artwork, deadline, and other requirements.

As early as possible.

Bulk and group orders require additional planning because of the quantity of leather, hardware, personalization, artwork, and production time involved.

Please provide your event date when requesting a quote. Production time varies based on quantity, product availability, and customization requirements.

Leather Cleaning & Care

For routine cleaning, wipe away surface dirt with a clean, soft cloth.

If necessary, use a slightly damp cloth or a leather cleaner designed for genuine leather. Do not soak the leather or use harsh household cleaners, detergents, or abrasive products.

Products such as Fiebing's 4-Way Care may be used for appropriate cleaning and conditioning.

Condition leather only when needed, typically about every 6–12 months, or when the leather begins to feel dry or stiff.

Climate, humidity, temperature, storage, and frequency of use can all affect how often leather needs conditioning.

Use a small amount of quality leather conditioner and apply a thin, even layer. With leather conditioner, less is usually better than more.

It can.

Many leather conditioners and oils will temporarily or permanently darken leather. Always test a small, inconspicuous area first if you are concerned about color change.

Mink oil in particular can noticeably darken leather.

Wipe away excess moisture with a clean cloth and allow the leather to air dry naturally at room temperature.

Do not use a hair dryer, heater, direct sunlight, or another heat source to speed up drying. Excessive heat can dry, shrink, stiffen, or damage leather.

Once completely dry, condition the leather if it feels dry or stiff.

Store leather in a cool, dry, ventilated location away from prolonged direct sunlight and excessive heat.

Leather naturally darkens and develops patina with age. Extended sunlight exposure can accelerate color changes.

For rifle slings and similar items, a closet, gun safe, or other protected location away from direct sunlight is generally best.
