A Foundation Rooted in Family, Faith, and Leather

Our story goes back to Grandpa Charlie, Kendall’s great-grandfather on his mother’s side, born in 1891. He was a true Ozarks man, one of grit, wisdom, and community. His old log cabin served as a way station for weary travelers and U.S. mail carriers, offering rest and welcome to those making the long journey by horse, buggy, or on foot. Back then, walking five miles was just like stepping out to feed the dog; it was a part of life.

Uncle Grady on his dad's side, was cut from the same cloth. A blacksmith and farmer with only one hand, yet stronger than most men half his age. He could haul hay with more precision and grit than any of the young bucks in town. On his farm, his blacksmith shop rang with purpose, fire, iron, and the sound of a life well-lived.

Later came Grandpa Troy Sherry, born in 1921.  Grandpa Troy ran the local feed mill, where folks came from all around, not just for grain, but to shoot the bull and hear what he had to say. He was the kind of man who filled the room, spoke his mind, and didn’t sugarcoat a thing. When he talked, you listened.

These men didn’t live flashy lives, but they lived full ones. They left behind a heritage we carry forward in how we work, what we make, and how we treat our customers.

From Kendall to Hunter: Leather, Legacy, and Lessons Learned

Our founder, Kendall, started Ozark Mountain Leather with a simple vision: to create American-made leather goods that last a lifetime and mean something. His hands shape every sling, every stitch, every custom detail, just like the generations before him who worked with purpose and pride.

His son, Hunter, started helping in the shop while attending the University of Arkansas. He’d be in the shop between classes, learning the craft, building his skills, and taking in the family trade. He graduated in 2023 and now works full-time alongside his dad, handcrafting every custom rifle sling and bison leather Bible cover with care and intention.

Together, they represent a four-generation legacy rooted in hard work, strong faith, and a deep respect for the outdoors.
