Frequently Asked Questions

Ozark Mountain Leather is a family-run shop in Northwest Arkansas. We make our leather goods by hand with pride, integrity, and gratitude for every customer. We try to do business the way we believe is right, with honesty, quality, and care. Below are answers to common questions about our handmade leather rifle slings, custom leather Bible covers, leather bags, shipping, and customization.

General Order Questions

Ozark Mountain Leather Why does it take so long to ship my order? +

Every Ozark Mountain Leather product is handmade at the time of purchase. We do not mass produce or pull items off a shelf. Each leather rifle sling, custom leather Bible cover, and leather bag is cut, stamped, sewn, assembled, and finished in our Arkansas shop.

Lead times typically range from 2 to 6 weeks depending on season and demand. During the holiday season, production times may increase. Handmade takes time, but we believe quality is worth the wait.

Ozark Mountain Leather When will I receive updates about my order? +

You will receive an order confirmation email shortly after purchase with your order number. You will receive a second email with tracking once your order ships. We do not usually send additional status emails in between unless we need clarification.

We also update our website weekly on the home page banner with shipping progress based on order date. This excludes orders placed under our Custom Listing tab, since those timelines can vary.

If you did not receive emails, please check spam folders and alternate email addresses. If you used Apple Pay or Amazon Pay, notifications may go to the email connected to that account. A single typo in your email address can also prevent delivery.

Ozark Mountain Leather What if I need my order by a specific date? +

If you have an event date (birthday, anniversary, wedding, or trip), please tell us what the event is and when it is. That information truly helps us plan.

We will always do our best to accommodate when your order is placed within our current lead time window. We do not bump other customers ahead in line, but we do watch notes closely and we care about getting your order to you when it matters.

Expedited shipping options may be available at checkout. Once the package leaves our shop, delivery speed is controlled by the carrier.

Ozark Mountain Leather Can I cancel my order? +

If production has not started and leather has not been cut, we can cancel your order. Once leather is cut, the order cannot be canceled.

Please email contact@ozarkmountainleather.com. If you do not receive confirmation within 48 hours, please follow up.

Ozark Mountain Leather Do you ship internationally? +

Yes. International orders ship via USPS International Priority Mail. International shipping usually ranges from $40 to $80.00 USD depending on weight and destination.

Customers are responsible for all import duties and customs fees. Customs clearance times vary by country.

Ozark Mountain Leather Why was my package returned? +

  • Incorrect or incomplete address
  • Invalid phone number
  • Unable to deliver

Please check your tracking information first and contact the shipping carrier for details. You are also welcome to contact us and we will help however we can.

Rifle Sling Questions

Ozark Mountain Leather Are your leather rifle slings compatible with AR rifles? +

In most cases, yes. Our leather rifle slings are traditional two point slings designed to attach with standard swivels, and they fit 1 inch sling swivels. They are not tactical or quick adjust tactical slings.

Always verify your rifle has compatible swivel mounts before ordering.

Ozark Mountain Leather Are your slings stiff when new? +

No. We have our full grain leather specially milled at the tannery for our slings, which gives them a softer, worn in feel right out of the box. They will soften more over time, but they are comfortable from day one.

Ozark Mountain Leather Youth Rifle Sling Safety and Fit +

Our Youth Rifle Slings are designed for very small youth rifles such as the Henry Mini Bolt, Savage Rascal, and Keystone Cricket. These slings are sized for rifles approximately 30 to 33 inches in overall length.

  • Not recommended for rifles longer than 33 inches
  • Not recommended for youth over 10 years of age
  • Not recommended for children taller than 5 feet

Youth slings should only be used under close adult supervision. Ozark Mountain Leather produces leather accessories only and does not sell firearms, ammunition, or regulated components.

Bible Covers and Measuring

Ozark Mountain Leather How do I measure my Bible for a custom leather Bible cover? +

Accurate measurements are the most important step for a great fit on a custom leather Bible cover. Please measure the physical book in inches using a solid ruler, not a flexible tape measure.

Record Height x Width x Thickness to the nearest 1/8 inch. If you fall between marks, round up. Do not rely on publisher or website dimensions, since those are often rounded or inaccurate.

Leather Care and Cleaning

Ozark Mountain Leather How do I clean and care for my leather item? +

Leather is tough, but it does best with simple care. A little maintenance keeps your leather rifle sling, leather Bible cover, or bag looking great for years.

Regular cleaning: Remove surface dust and dirt with a soft, dry cloth or a horsehair brush.

Deeper cleaning: If needed, use a slightly damp cloth (not wet) or a dedicated leather cleaner. Do not soak the leather.

Conditioning: Apply a quality leather conditioner every 3 to 6 months to prevent drying and cracking, especially if stored in a gun cabinet or not used often.

Wet leather care: If leather gets wet, wipe off excess water and allow it to air dry naturally away from sunlight or heat. Do not use direct heat to speed drying.

Protection and storage: Avoid direct sunlight and heat sources. Store in a cool, ventilated place.

Please avoid: Harsh chemicals, detergents, abrasive cleaners, or soaking in water.
